Duricef
Duricef is an antibiotic for fighting bacteria in the body. Duricef mainly treats infections caused by bacteria but may also be used for other purposes. People who are allergic are advised not to take this drug or similar medication such as Omnicef, kefelx etc.
Duricef cannot treat viral infections such as colds and common flu. One thing about antibiotics is that they cause diarrhea, indicating new infections signaled by watery and bloody diarrhea. You must consult your doctor incase of such events instead of using over medicines trying to stop it. Duricef should only be used in the treatment or prevention of infections that have been proved to be caused by bacteria. This is to reduce the risk of developing bacteria that is resistant to drugs.
Duricef is administered orally showing the following visibility features: white to yellowish white crystalline powder. Soluble in water and is acid stable. It’s indicated for treatment of strains of infections of the urinary tract caused by E. coli, P. mirabilis species, skin and skin infections caused by staphylococci, pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. Culture and susceptibility information available helps in selection and modification of antibacterial therapy. When such information is unavailable, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns could be considered for empiric therapy selection.
Duricef is stable in acids thus can be administered orally with disregard to meals. It is recommended the drug to be taken during meals to diminish potential of gastrointestinal discomforts that is associated with oral cephalosporin therapy.
Another important fact that you must consider is if you have kidney disease or history of intestinal problems. Duricef should be taken for the entire period as prescribed by the doctor as the symptoms sometimes get better before the dosage is completed.
